2025 PGA Championship: Eric Cole hits hole-in-one on fourth hole at Quail Hollow
It didn’t take long for the first ace of the tournament at the PGA Championship. It came midway through the afternoon on Thursday in the opening round, with Eric Cole doing the honors.
Cole stepped to the tee on the fourth hole and made his club selection. Then he approached his shot.
He let one rip, and the ball flew toward the front edge of the green. It made contact with the green just past another player’s ball, took a slight hop or two, then rolled right into the cup for an ace. You can check it out below.
The hole-in-one provided a nice recovery for Cole after he had posted an excellent opening nine on the day at the PGA Championship. Cole went out -1 under on his round through the first nine (he started on the back nine).
After bogeying his 10th hole and double-bogeying his 11th hole, Eric Cole steadied himself with a par. Then he hit his ace, moving him back to even for the tournament.

Si Woo Kim stops for a smoke at PGA Championship
It’s not every day you see a golfer ripping a cigarette on the course, especially not at the PGA Championship. The game includes a ton of walking and it can be rough on players if they’re struggling more than normal to get their breath.
Still, that’s exactly what 29-year-old Korean golfer Si Woo Kim did on the course at the PGA Championship on Thursday in the opening round. The PGA Championship is being held this year at Quail Hollow Club in Charlotte, NC.
Kim was off to just an OK start in the tournament, sitting at +1 over through the first 12 holes on the course. So it was mildly hilarious when he was seen taking a drag of a cigarette as he walked up to a tee box.
Si Woo Kim finished his opening round at the PGA Championship +1 over on the day. He was even after his smoke break.
