Aaron Rodgers hopes to see Saints style defense again going forward

Green Bay Packers quarterback Aaron Rodgers hopes he sees a similar style defense to the one the New Orleans Saints employed Sunday. Not because he found success against it, but because he wants another chance.
The Saints made fools of the Packers, Rodgers included, in a dominating 38-3 victory. Last year’s MVP looked the complete opposite of his usual self, throwing for just 133 yards and two interceptions.
Rodgers said postgame he believes the Saints’ ability to stop the run made it difficult to get things going in the passing game. New Orleans held Green Bay to just 43 yards on the ground.
“If you can stop the run, there’s not gonna be a lot of guys getting open,” Rodgers said. “We’ve got to go back to the drawing board. I don’t know if everybody’s going to do this. Some coordinators like to run their stuff. But the will be the blue print starting the season for the Packers. Hopefully we see it a little bit more because we’ll have it figured out by next week.”
The former Cal quarterback led the NFL in both passing touchdowns (48) and completion percentage (70.7) this past season while throwing for 4,299 yards. He helped lead the Packers to a 13-3 finish, but lost in the NFC Championship to eventual Super Bowl winner Tampa Bay.

Rodgers and many in the Packers organization believed the team was primed for a championship caliber year once more. However, they fell extremely short of those expectations in Week 1.
Luckily, it’s only one game, and the former MVP’s track record suggest he can easily turn this around. If teams do decide to try to copy the New Orleans Saint defense when they play Green Bay, Aaron Rodgers assures fans they won’t find the same success.
The Packers have a chance to rebound from this past week’s embarrassing loss when they face Detroit next Monday.
