Steelers quarterback Aaron Rodgers appeared to injure his left hand in the second quarter against the Bengals. Ahead of the second half, Pittsburgh head coach Mike Tomlin said Rodgers is being evaluated and backup quarterback Mason Rudolph will warm up on the sideline.

Rodgers completed 9-of-his-15 pass attempts for 115 yards and a touchdown in the first half against the Bengals. Rudolph started the second half for the Steelers. The Steelers said Rodgers is questionable to return to the game.

Rudolph has only appeared in two games this season. He’s completed both of his pass attempts in the 2025 campaign for 12 total yards. Now, Rudolph will look to make his first substantial impact of the year.

Rudolph will have big shoes to fill. Rodgers entered the game on Sunday with 1,853 passing yards and 18 touchdowns, compared to just seven interceptions. Rodgers 18 passing touchdowns are tied for the fifth-most in the NFL.

Rodgers could be seen grabbing at his left hand/wrist at the end of the first half. The Steelers are in need of a win today after falling 25-10 to the Los Angeles Chargers last week. The Steelers have lost three of their last four games.

Nonetheless, the team is still above .500 with a 5-4 record. Aaron Rodgers certainly wasn’t ready to hit the panic button after the Steelers’ loss to the Chargers.

“It’s just consistency. If the process is right, you don’t have to make any major changes or freak out,” Rodgers said. “It’s the nature of the league. There’s gonna be a stinker every now and then. You’ve just got to bounce back, get back to the things you do and get back in your routine and try and be better the next week.”

Rodgers isn’t a stranger to injuries. In 2023, Rodgers tore his Achilles tendon in his debut with the New York Jets. He missed the entire season due to the injury. Rodgers also broke his collarbone back in 2017.

While Pittsburgh fans can only hope Rodgers’ injury this time isn’t nearly as severe, the Steelers must push on, with or without their leader. Tune into CBS to watch the Steelers attempt to build on their halftime lead against the Bengals.
