Aaron Rodgers injury update: Mike Tomlin reveals Steelers QB's initial status for Bills game
Pittsburgh Steelers head coach Mike Tomlin is confident that Aaron Rodgers, who is dealing with a wrist injury, will return to the lineup this weekend. While speaking to reporters on Tuesday, Tomlin said he had “great optimism” that Rodgers will play against the Buffalo Bills.
“I’m comfortable with his general trajectory,” Mike Tomlin stated, per Gerry Dulac of the Pittsburgh Post-Gazette. In the Steelers’ Week 11 game against the Cincinnati Bengals, Aaron Rodgers suffered a fractured wrist. Rodgers did not require surgery and practiced all last week.
After the Steelers’ loss to the Bears, Tomlin told reporters that he anticipated Rodgers being back for the Bills game. They will need all the help they can get because the Steelers are now tied with the Baltimore Ravens for the lead in the AFC North.
“I anticipate him being ready for next week [against the Buffalo Bills],” Tomlin said on Sunday, per Brooke Pryor of ESPN. “It was a prudent decision to make. Certainly, it wasn’t a fluid week for him. It was a fluid week for Mason in terms of reps and so forth, and so I think it’ll be in our rear view as we move forward. I’m hopeful of that.”

Looking at Aaron Rodgers’ history against the Bills
With Rodgers out on Sunday, Mason Rudolph took over as the starting QB. In the 31-28 loss to the Bears, Rudolph completed 24-of-31 passes for 171 yards, one touchdown, and one interception with an 86.9 passer rating.
“I think there’s never been panic here,” Rudolph said after the game, per Teresa Varley of Steelers.com. “I’ve been with (the) Pittsburgh Steelers long enough to know we’ve been behind, down, in the division, up, it’s a natural ebb and flow of the season, and I’m very confident in our guys to keep fighting and end up on top.
The Steelers haven’t had a lot of luck when facing the Bills recently. Since Bills quarterback Josh Allen joined the team, Pittsburgh has a 1-4 record against them. Rodgers hasn’t had a lot of success against the Bills either. In seven career games, the four-time NFL MVP has a 3-4 record and has thrown seven touchdowns and seven interceptions with a 75.7 passer rating.
