Pittsburgh Steelers head coach Mike Tomlin gave an injury update on Aaron Rodgers after the team’s 31-28 loss to the Chicago Bears. Per Brooke Pryor of ESPN, Tomlin told reporters he anticipates Rodgers will be ready to play next week. Mike Tomlin added that he decided on Saturday for Rodgers not to play against the Bears.

Heading into the Week 12 game, Aaron Rodgers was ruled questionable all week due to a fractured left wrist he suffered in the team’s Week 11 game against the Cincinnati Bengals. When the four-time NFL MVP spoke to reporters on Wednesday, he said he was going to “leave that up to Mr. Coach Tomlin,” after being asked about his availability for Sunday.

Rodgers also talked about having extra motivation to play against the Bears since he faced them many times during his run with the Green Bay Packers. “There’s incentive for every opponent, but I have enjoyed many a Sunday and Monday and Thursdays in that city,” Rodgers, who has a 24-5 record against the Bears, told reporters, per ESPN. “It’s a great sports town, phenomenal sports fans, and great place to play.”

Rodgers added, “It’s a great rivalry. … When I first got to Green Bay, the Bears had the all-time series lead. When I left, [the] Packers did. Since [Jordan] J-Love has taken over, it’s even gotten better, but I hope those fans can put that behind ’em. I’m sure they can’t, don’t expect ’em to, but I really enjoy the city.”

With Rodgers out of the lineup on Sunday, Mason Rudolph took over at quarterback and finished the day completing 24 of 31 of his passes for 171 yards, one touchdown, and one interception with a 89.9 passer rating. The Steelers are now 6-5 on the year and tied with the Baltimore Ravens for the AFC North lead.

Rodgers is in his first season with the Steelers after spending the last two years with the New York Jets. In 10 games this year, the 42-year-old has completed 66.4 percent of his passes for 1,969 yards, 19 touchdowns, and seven interceptions wiht a 97.7 passer rating.
