Few players had better games on Sunday than Tennessee Titans rookie quarterback Will Levis against the Atlanta Falcons. He broke a record by tossing four touchdowns in his debut as the stand-in for injured QB Ryan Tannehill and received the win as well. Still free to keep up with games across the league as he continues rehabbing from his Achilles injury, Jets star Aaron Rodgers caught Levis’s first game and came away impressed.

The four-time league MVP was especially happy with how Levis played after seeing what the former Kentucky standout had to go through during the 2023 NFL Draft.

“I’m happy for the kid, he dealt with a lot of sh** on draft day, didn’t he?” Rodgers said on Tuesday’s Pat McAfee Show. “He was there, showed up, didn’t get picked until the second round. Obviously, lost a lot of money. Got kinda kicked in the you-know-what from an ego standpoint. So, really happy for him.

“He threw some freakin’ rainbows,” Rodgers added of Levis’s touchdown passes. “The last one he threw was a hell of a throw. He rolled to his right and threw a rainbow across the field… it couldn’t have looked more beautiful… You couldn’t script it any better. You go out and throw four touchdowns when no one’s expecting anything from you, probably?”

New Titans duo connect for three scores

Levis completed the game with 238 passing yards, four touchdowns, and zero interceptions in a 28-23 win over the Atlanta Falcons. His ropes to a well-covered DeAndre Hopkins could be risky if thrown to any other receiver, but Rodgers told McAfee that the rookie is wise if he’s listening to the veteran wideout.

“If I’m D-Hop, I might’ve said to him, ‘Hey, young fella, just throw it up to me.’ If I’m a rookie quarterback and D-Hop says that to me, I’m probably going to do that,” Rodgers said. “Who knows? I don’t know if there’s a conversation or if Will decided, ‘I’m just going to throw this ball up as far as I can wherever I want it and let this man go get it.’”

Levis to start again in Week 9 vs Steelers

The Tennessee Titans will start Levis for the second straight week due to starter Ryan Tannehill’s ongoing ankle injury, head coach Mike Vrabel confirmed to reporters on Tuesday. The former Wildcat will start, “unless something changes,” according to the skipper.

Despite the young QB’s success, Vrabel has already said there won’t be any long-term decisions made at the position until the veteran is back to full health.

“Until Ryan’s healthy I don’t think that I am ready to make a determination,” Vrabel said. “I think that is something that could be a possibility, but again we’re talking about hypotheticals. We’ll get Ryan healthy and see where things are at then.”
