Aaron Rodgers update: Steelers QB's practice status revealed amid wrist injury

Pittsburgh Steelers quarterback Aaron Rodgers was listed as a limited participant on Thursday’s injury report. Rodgers, who has a fracture in his left wrist, did not practice Wednesday.
The wrist injury occurred in the second quarter of last Sunday’s 34-12 Week 11 home win over the Cincinnati Bengals. Mason Rudolph replaced Rodgers under center for two possessions and played well, completed 12-of-16 passes for 127 yards and a touchdown.
Rudolph will get the start Sunday against the Chicago Bears if Rodgers can’t go. Rodgers, however, has been pushing to play.
“As for Aaron Rodgers, a big test today,” Adam Schefter of ESPN shared on Thursday’s Get Up. “He plans to try to practice despite the fact that he has a fracture in his left wrist. We’ll see how that practice goes. Clearly didn’t practice yesterday. Wants to play on Sunday in Chicago. Has been pushing to play.”
Aaron Rodgers ‘pushing to play’ against Bears
The 41-year-old Rodgers would be facing a familiar foe in the Bears. Rodgers, who spent 18 seasons with the Green Bay Packers, has faced the Bears 29 times in his career. In those 29 games, Rodgers has posted a 24-5 record and thrown for 6,695 yards, 64 touchdowns and 10 interceptions.

Ultimately, Rodgers has to get the OK from the training staff and head coach Mike Tomlin to play. Rodgers and Tomlin have a lot of confidence in Rudolph is he’s called upon to start in Chicago.
“He’s a great backup,” Rodgers said Wednesday of Rudolph. “He’s super helpful during the week. He’s a professional. He is ready to play. He’s a gamer, and watching the locker room last week, I was super fired up watching him go up and down the field and those couple drives he had. I’m thankful for the way he played, the way he prepares.
“He’s a lot more type A, I would say, than I am with the preparation. He’s wound a little tight, but it makes it for a good backup of quarterback because he’s so in tune to the details, and I just love being around him.”
