The Pittsburgh Steelers finally have their quarterback for the 2025 season with Aaron Rodgers showing up for mandatory mini-camp. There, it appeared that the veteran quarterback finally tied the knot, with him wearing a wedding ring.

After practice, Rodgers awkwardly addressed the wedding ring on his finger when asked by media members. He said, “Yeah it’s a wedding ring. Thank you … It’s been a couple of months.” After that, an awkward silence fell over the press conference before moving on to the next subject without a follow-up question.

ESPN NFL insider Adam Schefter appeared on Get Up Wednesday morning. There, he explained the incident, emphasizing that this came out of a blend of intrigue and discomfort.

“Look, the fact of the matter is he’s such an intriguing figure,” Schefter said. “And there’s so much curiosity about his life, and he had been wearing a wedding ring. So, you want to ask it but it’s a personal issue, and he gave you enough to get your antenna up and want you to want more, but nobody was comfortable to ask any follow-ups, and he didn’t want to offer anything.”

Aaron Rodgers certainly has had several very public relationships before. That includes with several celebrities, like NASCAR driver Danica Patrick, actress Olivia Munn, and actress Shailene Woodley. He was even briefly engaged to Woodley.

This also comes in an offseason where Rodgers’ decision was highly anticipated. It had long since seemed like he’d either retire or sign with Pittsburgh. However, without a decision, the Steelers were largely left in limbo. The wedding would partially explain being distracted this offseason, but it is part of the long string of questions he’s faced since joining his third organization.

“I think everybody wondered why it had taken him so long. Obviously, he addressed the fact that he had gotten married this offseason. There were people that he was looking out for this offseason. There were a number of commitments that he had,” Schefter said. “But the message that he wanted to deliver on his first day of work with the Pittsburgh Steelers was he’s all in. That was important for him to convey to everybody, because people wondered if he would wind up signing with the Pittsburgh Steelers, which he wound up doing on Saturday morning officially in Pittsburgh.”

Aaron Rodgers spent the vast majority of his career with the Green Bay Packers. There, he’d win a Super Bowl and four MVP awards, cementing himself as a future Hall of Fame inductee. However, he’d leave following the 2022 season and spend the next two years with the New York Jets, where he suffered an Achilles injury in 2023 before returning to the field, though not at the level he’s been known to play, in 2024. In 2024, he threw for 3,897 yards and 28 touchdowns, along with 11 interceptions.

“But the plan all along was to go to Pittsburgh. He himself said it was Pittsburgh or nowhere else despite the conjecture about Minnesota or other teams that was out there. His plan was to go to Pittsburgh,” Schefter said. “He executed the plan, and yesterday he let everybody know, he’s ready to get to work.”
