Aidan Hutchinson and Jameson Williams came into the league together as a pair of Top-12 picks by the Detroit Lions in the 2023 NFL Draft. Now, the former is expressing his excitement to watch the latter put on a show in his second season now that he’s fully healthy.

Hutchinson spoke about Williams and his potential during an appearance on the Green Light podcast. He recalled a play during last season when he caught the attention of all his teammates on the Lions. With that in mind, he says they fully expect to see even more fireworks out of him in 2023.

“I mean it happened right as he scored that touchdown. We’re all sitting there on the sideline because we know how fast he is,” Hutchinson said. “And, I mean, he was still not 100 percent coming off that knee. I mean those guys are not 100% until a year and a half after. We were all sitting there on the sideline just stargazing and really excited about next year.”

That touchdown that Hutchinson is referring to was Williams’ 41-yard grab in his second game against the Minnesota Vikings. It actually turned out to be his only catch of the season yet, even with one play, it showcased the potential he put on display at Alabama and still has today at 22 years old.

Again, Williams didn’t get to show much during his rookie season in the NFL. Even so, Hutchinson and his teammates are expecting that to be anything but the case with Williams during his second season in Detroit.

Former Michigan star defensive end Aidan Hutchinson was a dominant force during his rookie season with the Detroit Lions. The franchise had a breakthrough season (9-8 overall) and even though they didn’t make the 2023 NFL Playoffs, the Lions were still one of the league’s most exciting and talented teams to watch every week. Individually, Hutchinson brought home Pepsi Zero Sugar NFL Rookie of the Year honors, voted on by NFL fans across the country. On Thursday afternoon, he sat down with Dave Sulfaro of PFF and discussed his rookie season and his thoughts heading into his second year in the league.
