AJ Brown was held out of practice by the Philadelphia Eagles Sunday due to a hamstring injury, per multiple reports. The star wide receiver sat out while fellow WR DeVonta Smith returned to the field after nursing a back injury.

Pro Football Talk reported there is no timetable for return regarding Brown. The Eagles are likely to be extra cautious with one of their best players ahead of the 2025 campaign.

After playing in all 17 games in each of his first two seasons with the Eagles, Brown was limited to 13 games last year, but played in all four postseason games.

Helping Philadelphia win Super Bowl LIX, Brown caught 67 passes for 1,079 yards, seven touchdowns and 16.1 yards per catch. In six seasons with the Tennessee Titans and Eagles, Brown has gone over the 1,000 yard mark five times.

During last season’s playoff run, Brown caught 12 passes for 163 yards and two touchdowns, including one in the Super Bowl win over the Kansas City Chiefs.

Over the course of his NFL career, coming out of Ole Miss, Brown has 446 catches for 7,026 yards, 49 touchdowns and 15.8 yards per catch. He’s established himself as one of the premier WRs in the league.

Brown wanted to focus on camp this summer as the Eagles gear up for a Super Bowl repeat bid. Since he’s in the prime of his career, he was asked back in May if he’d consider flag football for the 2028 LA Olympics. He’s leaving that to other players around the league, should NFL players be the official roster partner for the sport.

“So I heard the Olympics are during camp, yeah, so no,” Brown said. “So that’d be tough. That would be tough. Hopefully (the vote) goes through, and I think that’ll be fun, just to compete, you know, and me personally, no, because of camp. You guys will be complaining about ‘AJ Brown is not in camp.’ And so will the fans, you know? So I’m gonna keep the main thing, main thing as (Jalen Hurts) says.”

Hurts starred in a commercial advertising the Olympics in Los Angeles, featuring flag football for the first time. He was named the Flag Football ambassador last August, although it’s unclear if Hurts would play in the Olympics three years from now.

It seems that if the NFL allows players for the Olympics, there can only be one player per franchise. Unfortunately, no Hurts to Brown for the Olympics if they’re both still playing for the Eagles by the 2028 campaign.
