Alex Anzalone injury update: Lions LB gets brutal diagnosis, return timeline after Jaguars game

Detroit Lions (9-1) head coach Dan Campbell announced that linebacker Alex Anzalone suffered a broken forearm in Sunday’s 52-6 Week 11 home win over the Jacksonville Jaguars (2-9).
Campbell said that Anzalone is expected to be sidelined for six to eight weeks, per Colton Pouncy of The Athletic. Based on the timeline, Anzalone appears to have a shot to be back in time for the playoffs.
The injury occurred late in the second quarter after Anzalone made a tackle on Jaguars running back Travis Etienne.

Lions lose another defensive starter in Alex Anzalone
Anzalone, one of Detroit’s leaders on defense, recorded five tackles (one for loss) before exiting the game against Jacksonville. The 30-year-old is second only to fellow linebacker Jack Campbell for the team lead in tackles. Anzalone has started 56 games since joining the Lions in 2021.
The Lions are already without star pass rusher Aidan Hutchinson, who suffered a fractured tibia and fibula in Week 6 against the Dallas Cowboys (3-6). Detroit still has one of the better defenses in the league, surrendering just 19.0 points per game entering Sunday’s game.
