The Ally 400 is under a weather delay for rain and lightning at Nashville Superspeedway. With rainfall more than expected, it’s going to be lengthy. Don’t worry, NASCAR will work hard to get the track dried and get back to racing.

With the race not quite reaching halfway, we are going to see more racing tonight. Besides, the weather has moved through quickly, albeit heavily, and now there is a window to dry the track. This Ally 400 is far from over.

Bob Pockrass of FOX Sports does not believe the drying process will take more than an hour at most. Nashville Superspeedway is concrete and the temperatures this weekend have been hot.

That will help NASCAR get the track prepared for racing to resume. If Pockrass is right, we could go racing before 7:00 PM EST. There are lights at Nashville Superspeedway.

UPDATE: The weather delay was lifted and cars were back and racing on track right around 6:45 PM EST. NASCAR worked quickly to dry the track and it worked out in their favor. The recent heat and concrete of the track helped that process.

As far as weather delays go, this one was relatively painless. Here at the track, the rain came down hard and fast. It was a wild half hour or so. However, the bad weather was through with soon and we knew racing wouldn’t be too far away.

Just a side note, a great rainbow did pop up over the track after the rain.

Ally 400 resumes after strange penalty

After the more than hour-long weather delay, Austin Cindric was hit with a big penalty before he even got on the track again. The Team Penske driver was penalized by NASCAR and made to restart at the tail end of the field.

Austin Cindric was having a solid day. He qualified in the top-10 and was running 17th at the end of the first stage. He hung around the top-15 and top-10 throughout the first part of this race.

The No. 2 team had a fan on their pit box to help dry it after the rain came through. NASCAR felt it was too close to the car and could have been used to help cool the car off. So, they issued a penalty.

While Cindric and his team worked hard to get track position, it got thrown away. NASCAR made the decision to penalize the team. Since there is more than half of the race left to go, it won’t be impossible to get back towards the front, but it will be difficult.
