Antonio Brown was extradited back to the United States on Thursday. Now, following his arrest, the latest is out regarding what his legal proceedings currently look like.

Ian Rapoport of the NFL Network shared a statement on social media released by the Public Information Officer of the Essex County Prosecutor’s Office in New Jersey. After appearing before a judge this morning, Brown is now to be handed over in custody to authorities in Miami, Florida.

“Antonio Brown appeared before Judge Barry and executed a waiver of extradition. (Essex County Prosecutor’s Office) is notifying the Dade Co. Sheriff’s office in Miami for custody arrangements,” she wrote. “Brown will be transported back to the Essex County Jail to await pick up by Florida authorities.”

Brown has been wanted since June on charges of attempted murder for an incident back in May. Amidst an altercation following a celebrity boxing match on May 16th, Brown, who was apparently part of the altercation after his jewelry was attempted to be stolen, was pointed out as a shooter by witnesses, although officers did not find a firearm on him at the time of being detained. Further details were reported on at the time of the warrant coming down, with an order of house arrest pending his trial and a bond of $10,000, back in June, per David Ovalle at The Washington Post.

Nearly five months after that warrant came down, Brown is now in custody. That’s after his capture by United States Marshals as of yesterday, as he was extradited from Dubai with assistance given by the United Arab Emirates. TMZ Sports further reported on the details of the arrest.

This is the latest headline regarding what’s been a downward spiral over the past few years for Brown, the former Pro Bowl, All-Pro, and Super Bowl-winning wide receiver in the NFL. He, in his dozen-year career with the Pittsburgh Steelers, Las Vegas Raiders, New England Patriots, and Tampa Bay Buccaneers, was one of the all-time leading receivers in the history of the National Football League, posting 928 catches for 12,291 yards, averaging 84.2 per game and 13.2 per reception, and 83 touchdowns. He then left that career in 2021, with Brown having had several instances of issue since, whether in real life or online.

No further details are available at this time regarding Brown. We are just now awaiting when he leaves his current custody in New Jersey to that of the authorities back down in Miami, and where law enforcement in Dade County then takes this matter from there.
