Maybe football fans shouldn’t be surprised that former Tampa Bay Bucs receiver Antonio Brown has gone full nuclear since being released by the team. On Friday, the disgruntled wide receiver ripped Tom Brady on the Full Send Podcast.

Brady can’t do shit by himself. But you guys are going to make it seem like he’s just this heroic guy,” he said. “We’re all humans, bro. We’re all dependent on somebody else to do the job.”

Football is the ultimate team sport. In that sense, Brown is not wrong. There need to be offensive linemen blocking for the quarterbacks, running backs, and receivers. The receivers have to run their routes properly and catch the ball.

Obviously, there’s a lot more to it than just those things but the point is, there are many different pieces that make a football team great. Quarterbacks in general, often get the most glory and the biggest salaries by a wide margin. However, they also deal with the brunt of criticism when things go wrong.

Despite all of Brown’s red flags and his checkered past, Brady welcomed him in Tampa Bay with open arms.

Why? Because he loves to win Super Bowls more than anything in this world. He thought Brown could help him do that. Winning is everything to Tom Brady and if him taking a gamble on Antonio Brown doesn’t show that to people, then I’m not sure what else can.

If anything, Brown should be thanking the Tampa Bay Buccaneers for the opportunity and especially Tom Brady, for helping him get back in the league. There’s no question without Brady, Brown would have struggled to find a job in the league.

Brown has a checkered past with numerous red flags, yet Tom Brady was willing to bring Brown into his own home. If anything, Brady is an absolute saint for associating with Brown and bringing him in.

He brought the former Pittsburgh Steeler great into his own home, judgment-free. He even introduced him to Tony Robbins to help Brown with his mental struggles.

All things considered, it was a massive risk for a player with such a great reputation as Brady to risk his reputation in dealing with Antonio Brown. He’d been a horrible teammate for years in Pittsburgh. He had plenty of issues with the Las Vegas Raiders, too. It was only a matter of time before something like this happened. It wasn’t going to take much for the Antonio Brown inferno to explode. Luckily for both parties, they each got a Super Bowl ring out of the relationship.

Both the Tampa Bay Bucs and Antonio Brown are guilty in the situation

As Mike Florio of ProFootballTalk has noted, it’s clear that both parties are likely guilty in this situation. The Bucs are partially guilty due to loading Brown’s contract up with incentives in the final few games. When a player’s meal ticket is so heavily based on getting targets and numbers, then that’s going to be a big deal when they’re not getting those targets.

It’s also clear that the Bucs’ relationship with Brown had been going sideways for the past couple of weeks after he was caught with a fake vaccination card. Tampa Bay head coach Bruce Arians has never been known to be the warm and fuzzy type throughout his coaching career, quite the opposite. He likely made the situation worse with the way he told Brown to leave.

The Bucs kind of made their own mess in this situation to a degree, but that’s not to say that Brown should be allowed a free pass to rip Tom Brady. As a matter of fact, just the opposite. Brown should be praising him to the high heavens.

In the end, it was a very predictable ending for the seven-time All-Pro receiver. He’s been a highly volatile personality and remarkably difficult to deal with for several years now. Now, his NFL career faces a very uncertain future. We’ll see where it goes from here.
