This long-lasting rivalry between two former SEC West teams is one that has been played annually since 1981. The first meeting was over a century ago in 1908.
Ole Miss has won the last two matchups including five of the last seven games. Throughout this rivalry, these teams have put on some of the most exciting matchups of the season. This includes several one-score finishes over the last decade.
In 2021, Ole Miss defeated Arkansas 52-51 in a thrilling matchup. The Rebels ended up scoring three touchdowns in the fourth quarter. Arkansas scored in the final moments of regulation and instead of tying the game with an extra point attempt, elected to go for the win with a two-point conversion. Ole Miss got the stop, and sent their fans home happy.

2001 is a game worth mentioning as well. At the time, it was the longest football game ever played between two college programs. This included seven overtime periods and saw Arkansas down Eli Manning and Ole Miss 58-56.
Last season, Ole Miss dominated the Razorbacks, defeating Arkansas 63-31 as both both Rebels quarterback Jaxson Dart and receiver Jordan Watkins set records for the program during the win. Dart set a new single-game passing record with 515 yards during the win and Watkins broke the single-game receiving yards and touchdown records with 254 receiving yards and five touchdowns. Both are now in the NFL.
This season, the Rebels will look a little different, but still are favored over the Razorbacks on their home turf. A victory in their SEC home opener sends a strong statement to the rest of the conference that they’re able to defend home field. On the other hand, Arkansas is seeking a ranked road win and they have an opportunity early to do just that on Saturday.
Following Week 4, Ole Miss will host Tulane — who is considered one of the Group of 5’s strongest contenders for the College Football Playoff. Arkansas will travel to Memphis to take on the Tigers in a road game.
