Last week at Talladega, Austin Cindric won the race, but the radio rant his teammate Joey Logano had stole the headlines. Logano’s frustration with his NASCAR teammate made headlines and caught the attention of Atlanta Braves icon, Chipper Jones.

Chipper Jones felt that Joey Logano left Austin Cindric out to dry with his comments. Then, Logano responded on SiriusXM NASCAR Radio. Of course, Cindric had to address the drama when he went on the Dale Jr. Download.

During media scrums at Texas, Cindric was asked about the whole controversy. He had an interesting take on the situation.

“I mean, I know of him, I know who he is,” Cindric said of Chipper Jones, via Bob Pockrass of FOX Sports. “I don’t follow too much baseball, but to have someone like that, with eyes on our sport, a Hall of Famer, is really cool. Like I said already, the rest of it’s a lot of noise, but it’s cool to have someone like that behind me. But otherwise, yeah, definitely sounds like a NASCAR fan.”

While Austin Cindric is a “casual” Braves fan, he didn’t want to start any unnecessary drama. So, he kept his Braves hat in his truck when it came time to go to the team meeting this week.

“No, well, the funny thing is that’s [Atlanta Braves hat] like my neutral hat that I just leave in my truck. Because I don’t want to like walk around advertising, hey, I’m a NASCAR driver if I can help it. So, it’s usually just the one, that or the Colts hat that I snag in my truck. That one [Braves hat] stayed in the hat box out of respect for my relationship with my teammates.”

Team Penske isn’t the organization where drama is tolerated. So, a good call from Austin Cindric on the hat. Keep things calm off the track and leave all the intense stuff for race day.

Austin Cindric gets first win for Team Penske in 2025

This season has not been going well for Team Penske as a whole. Joey Logano is struggling, highlighted by his DQ after Talladega last week. Ryan Blaney can’t stop getting into wrecks and finding new mechanical issues every week.

Austin Cindric’s win at Talladega was the first of the season for Penske. If you count Josh Berry and the Wood Brothers, then this is the second win of the year for the Penske group. But the point remains the same – the two champions in this organization are having a hard time.

Texas gives Blaney and Logano a chance to bounce back and follow up Cindric’s big win with one of their own. Or will we just see more struggles from this group?
