A wreck with less than 50 laps to go! Austin Dillon got into Cody Ware and immediately called out the Rick Ware Racing driver. Dillon and Ware had an incident earlier in the day. Could this be a bit of bad blood brewing?

Cody Ware is doing what he usually does, and that’s make laps. He just had one lap in particular that wasn’t so great. Austin Dillon is going all he can to get another great finish this season after being eliminated from the NASCAR Playoffs.

After this wreck below, Dillon was beside himself. He couldn’t believe what Ware did, apparently.

“What an idiot. What an idiot,” Dillon said on the radio. “Why is he out here?”

This wasn’t just some wreck. It happened with less than 50 laps to go in a NASCAR Playoffs race. That is no small thing. With so much on the line for 12 of these drivers today, these incidents and wrecks are what makes or breaks a team looking for an opportunity to turn their day around.

This race is going to come down to Team Penske. Either Ryan Blaney or Josh Berry will win this race. That is, unless we see a wild restart at the end of the race. It isn’t much longer until we crown a winner.

Austin Dillon responds a week after elimination

A week after being eliminated from the NASCAR Playoffs, Austin Dillon has responded well. He has been able to race near the top-10 today. Given how horrible his teammate Kyle Busch is today, fighting to make the top-30, that’s quite an accomplishment.

At times, it feels like Richard Childress Racing is setting these cars up at two different shops. Dillon has had so much more speed than Busch this season. Not every week, but enough to make it noticeable.

Austin Dillon wasn’t the only frustrated driver today. Denny Hamlin actually spun his teammate, Ty Gibbs, out. That situation is going to result in a bunch of team drama at JGR. But racing is that kind of a sport at times. You have teammates, but not really.

The NASCAR Playoffs are the most intense part of the season. There is a dogfight for each and every position on the track. That goes from first to last. Everyone is pushing and trying to give their best performance.
