The legend of Colorado Buffaloes two-way star Travis Hunter has grown so large, even Baltimore Ravens wide receiver Odell Beckham Jr. has the young player on his radar. OBJ sported a Travis Hunter shirt during warmups for the Ravens’ Week 2 matchup against the Cincinnati Bengals.

Along with the Hunter-themed shirt, the former Giants superstar finished the look off with Randy Moss cleats.

The Ravens could certainly use OBJ channeling Moss and Hunter as they face the Bengals who are fresh off of a stinging loss to the Browns in Week 1. In Baltimore’s win last week, Beckham had two catches for 37 yards.

Travis Hunter was one of the biggest signings for Deion Sanders when he was skipper at Jackson State. Originally committed to Florida State, the WR/CB flipped his commitment to Coach Prime after coming in as the No. 2 overall recruit in the nation from the 2022 cycle, according to the On3 Industry Ranking, a weighted average that utilizes all four major recruiting media companies.

Hunter was a Five Star Plus+ recruit, meaning he was one of the only players ranked by all four major recruiting media companies as a five-star prospect.

Last year as a freshman at JSU, Hunter totaled 19 tackles and two interceptions on defense while adding 18 receptions for 190 yards and four touchdowns on offense. Entering the portal to follow Sanders to Colorado, he became the No. 1-ranked transfer during the 2023 cycle, according to the On3 Transfer Portal Rankings.

Travis Hunter likely out ‘two weeks’

After taking a nasty hit on Saturday night against Colorado State, Travis Hunter could be sidelined for a couple of weeks, according to Sanders.

“I think coach Ray is going to the hospital to check him out,” Sanders said postgame. “First thing I heard is that he would be out for a few weeks. I heard that for sure.

“But we’re gonna do what we gotta do to take care of him. So I know Travis like a book. He probably is gonna want to be out for two weeks, but we got to make sure his health is more important than this game.”

Hunter ran a go route down the left sideline in the first half of the 43-35 double OT win, but had no chance to make a catch on a pass from Shedeur Sanders thanks to a pass interference penalty on the defender. Right as the ball came down in front of Hunter, however, Henry Blackburn came across and delivered a crushing blow.

After a brief scuffle, Hunter remained on the sideline. Colorado scored quickly to tie the game at 14 with Sanders connecting on a long touchdown pass, and Hunter re-entered the game late in the first quarter on a defensive series for Colorado, playing cornerback.

Hunter finished the game with two catches for 21 yards and had one tackle. He’s up to 16 catches for 213 yards, with nine tackles and an interception so far this year for the Buffs.
