Baltimore Ravens place Devon Williams on NFI list
Just a few days after being officially reinstated to the Baltimore Ravens’ 90-man roster, former Oregon star Devon Williams was placed on the team’s Non-Football Injury list on Sunday, per Aaron Wilson of Pro Football Network. The NFI list is designated for injuries suffered away from football or a pre-existing injury prior to being drafted to the NFL.
He was reinstated to the Baltimore Ravens’ 90-man roster on Friday, per Jeff Zriebec of The Athletic. Last season, he caught 35 balls for 557 receiving yards and four touchdowns for the Ducks. In his two seasons with Oregon, Williams reeled in 50 catches for 843 yards and six touchdowns. He was signed by the Ravens as a UDFA following the 2022 NFL Draft.
The former Oregon standout landed on the Ravens’ reserve/did not report list early last week after he was the only member of the franchise’s rookie class that did not show up to the first day of training camp workouts. He figures to be a longshot to make Baltimore’s Week 1 roster.
Coming out of high school, he was touted as one of the top football prospects in America. The 6-foot-4 wideout was rated as a five-star prospect and the No. 30 overall prospect in America, according to the On3 Consensus Rankings for the 2018 cycle.
Williams was considered by many national recruiting analysts a lock to sign with the Oregon Ducks coming out of high school, but on National Signing Day, chose to sign with the USC Trojans, a shock to many. He stayed with the Trojans for two years, before playing his final two seasons at Oregon.
As a senior for Antelope Valley High School (Lancaster, California) Williams reeled in 71 passes for 1,157 receiving yards and 13 touchdowns. Defensively, he also demonstrated elite ball skills, intercepting five passes, returning one for touchdown, and making 67 tackles. As a junior, he also snatched five interceptions and forced four fumbles, while racking up 55 tackles. Williams was named to the 2018 Polynesian Bowl. He was also named the CIF Southern Section Co-Offensive Player of the Year in 2017.
