Bill Simmons ripped Pablo Torre over the latter’s reporting on Bill Belichick and girlfriend Jordon Hudson. Simmons didn’t appreciate how Torre has turned the gossip and off-the-field situation between the two in a month-plus long saga.

Ironically, Simmons went on this rant while doing an edition of his podcast The Rewatchables, a podcast dedicated to the most rewatchable movies. Simmons discussed the movie Heaven Can Wait with co-hosts Van Lathan and Chris Ryan.

But as Awful Announcing pointed out, Simmons used a discussion about character Leo Farnsworth to rip Torre and his reporting on Belichick. It sounds just as absurd in all facets as you might think.

“Pablo Torre would’ve done a long podcast about Leo Farnsworth trying to practice with the team, and then done a media tour about it afterwards,” Simmons said. “I’ve never seen anybody dine on a stupider story for a week and a half while pretending you’re a journalist. What the (expletive) was that? Seriously. Belichick’s dating a girl. ‘Oh, let me do nine shows about it. Settle the (expletive) down.”

Simmons also criticized Torre going on multiple shows discussing Belichick and Hudson while plugging his podcast Pablo Torre Finds Out to keep the research going. Those shows included Pardon My Take, Pro Football Talk and more.

“Alright, alright. You don’t need to do a media tour about (expletive) podcast,” Simmons said. That’s when Lathan chimed in.

“It was a story that everybody was talking about to be fair,” Lathan said. Simmons then had another take.

“That’s fine,” Simmons said. “Maybe do two shows about it.”

Torre’s been in the news lately regarding his reporting as Hudson has fired back. So we have Simmons criticizing the reporting as well as Hudson defending Belichick and questioning Torre as well. Got all that?

Two weeks ago, Torre’s reporting included an in-depth piece on his Pablo Torre Finds Out podcast about the infamous 2023 Ring video featuring the six-time Super Bowl champion head coach shirtless outside a Massachusetts Airbnb. That particular report, which revealed concerns from the Airbnb’s hosts, prompted Hudson — Belichick’s 24-year-old girlfriend and occasional business partner/PR specialist — to attack Torre’s journalistic credibility, calling his reporting “nothing short of factually incorrect, slanderous, defamatory and targeted” in a May 23 Instagram post that was quickly deleted.

During his discussion with Mike Florio, Torre doubled down on his reporting and called out Hudson’s quickly-deleted IG response, which only raised more questions for the intrepid journalist.

“So, there is zero fear. What there is, though, is some mixture of a pie chart in which there’s a slice of irritation because nobody likes having their credibility questioned, even in scare quotes by Jordon Hudson,” Torre said. “The other part is the deleting of it happening so soon after. I can’t script this stuff. You ask questions then. Why did she delete it? What she posted, which was a screenshot of her text message exchange with the Airbnb owners, (were) some texts back and forth that had really nothing to do with her beef with me on the merits of my credibility, along with the headline being defamatory, targeted, unfair, fake reporter stuff.

“I feel like Jordon Hudson may have accidentally, once again, placed a rake and jumped on it with both feet. I’m like, ‘I don’t know why she did this.’ I just know that it’s something that I am happy to keep looking into.”
