Body ripped off Carson Brown's late model in strange Snowball Derby wreck
Carson Brown had a good piece under him. Now, the body of his race car has almost been ripped from the frame entirely. Brown, Richard Childress Racing’s newest development driver, had driven up from P17 at the start and into the top-10 early in the Snowball Derby.
Five Flags Speedway has a way of creating big wrecks at times. Carson Brown just got his first taste of what Pensacola can dish out.
To make this wreck even more strange, it was under caution. The yellow was thrown for fluid on the track. Before the field slowed down, Brown was getting crossed over into Turn 1 and backed it into the wall big time.
A really tough break for Carson Brown. He had a great race going there up until the wreck. Sometimes, the caution comes out, and it takes the field a moment to get woah-ed up. That’s just how these grassroots races go at times.
The Snowball Derby is an aggressive race, too. Drivers are fighting for position on every turn, corner, and lap. If you open the door even an inch, someone is going to stick their nose in there and get into that spot.
It looks like this race is Ty Majeski’s to lose. He has been racing like a man on a mission, a mission to become only the second three-time winner in the event’s history. He’d join Rich Bickle as the only three-time winners.

Carson Brown showed why RCR signing was smart move
Now, I am not saying that Carson Brown is a real deal Cup Series talent at 17 years old. However, he has shown why he was a smart pick for the Richard Childress Racing development driver. He’s young, has promising wins and finishes already in the grassroots ranks, and also seems passionate enough to climb the ladder a bit.
With how many alliances that RCR has in the O’Reilly Series for 2026, I would be shocked to see Brown not get a start at a road course or short track this year. Brown has won in Trans AM TA2, has a dirt late model background, and drove into the top-10 today in the Snowball Derby before that nasty wreck.
It’s honestly amazing that Carson Brown wrecked the car that badly. It shows you that even at these small tracks, anything can happen. The entire body was almost peeled off the car from the back to the front.
So, what is next for Brown? Well, we don’t know at the moment. When the 2026 season starts, he will likely have a diverse schedule in multiple series. While he’s young, Brown races in all kinds of cars and vehicles.
