Braelon Allen injury update: Aaron Glenn offers grim news on New York Jets RB

New York Jets head coach Aaron Glenn shared some grim news on running back Braelon Allen, who suffered a knee injury this week. Glenn told reporters that the injury is “pretty serious” and Allenn is getting a second opinion to get further clarity.
“When it comes to Braelon, he’s getting a second opinion, so we’re still going through exactly how we’re going to designate that, so give me a little bit of time with that so we can try to figure it out,” Glenn said. “But, obviously, you guys know, pretty serious knee injury. So, we’ll see exactly where he’s going to be when it comes to designate whether he will be on the IR or not.”
Braelon Allen suffered the injury late in the second quarter in the game against the Miami Dolphins on Monday night. The incident happened during a kickoff return and was quickly ruled out.
Braelon Allen ‘likley’ suffered an MCL sprain
Ian Rapoport of the NFL Network reported that Allen suffered an MCL sprain that will “likely” land him on injured reserve. Before the injury, Allen recorded 26 rushing yards on four carries and one lost fumble in the 27-21 loss against the Dolphins.

Allen is in his second year in the NFL after the Jets selected him in the fourth round of the 2024 NFL Draft. In his rookie season, the Wisconsin alum rushed for 334 yards and two touchdowns on 92 carries in 17 games. Through four games this season, Allen has rushed for 76 yards and one touchdown on 18 carries.
Before the start of this season, Allen discussed Aaron Glenn asking his players to be more physical. “He’s stressed since Day 1 back in the spring, physicality was number one,” Allen said at the start of training camp in July, per the Jets’ official website. “And that’s going to be our identity. That starts up front and with the run game. So he’s relying on us to kind of set that tone. Him being a defensive-minded head coach, that kind of trickles over onto the offensive side as well. And that’s part of my game that’s already kind of instilled in me. So, nothing new.”
