Brandon Jones wins Kansas Xfinity Series race, advances to NASCAR Playoffs Round of 8

A major win for Brandon Jones! He started on the pole and dominated all day, winning to advance to the Round of 8. The NASCAR Xfinity Series Playoffs have a new challenger all of a sudden.
The last time Brandon Jones won at Kansas was back in 2020. He now has three career wins at the track. It is becoming his favorite place, if it isn’t already.
Being able to hold off Connor Zilisch late in this race could be a major moment in these playoffs. How far can Jones go? Zilisch advanced to the Round of 8 on points with one race remaining in the round.
Brandon Jones and Justin Allgaier dominated most of this race. In the final stage, it was all Jones. Joe Gibbs Racing knows how to get the job done at Kansas. Both in Xfinity and Cup. They swept the front row for both races in qualifying, and Sunday should be more of the same for JGR.
Jones led 54 laps on the day and was fantastic under pressure from Zilisch. This race had so many grooves for drivers to pick and choose. On top of advancing to the next round, Jones also has multiple wins in the same season for the first time since 2020.

With Jones having his best races right now, I like his chances of making a deep run. Las Vegas is another intermediate track. He is at his best at these intermediates. We have seen it time and again at Darlington, Kansas, and other tracks.
Brandon Jones makes Xfinity Playoffs interesting
Up until now, it has felt like Justin Allgaier and Connor Zilisch are going to be the two to beat for the Xfinity Series championship. Zilisch now has 16 straight top-five finishes. That is a record for the series, beating Sam Ard’s 15 straight.
Brandon Jones made a statement with his win today. He is reminding everyone that the way this championship works, all it takes is one win on the right day to steal it all from another driver. Jones is that driver, JGR is that team.
The Roval next weekend will be very interesting. Jones, Allgaier and Zilisch are locked into the next round. Sam Mayer are almost locked in. That means there are realistically only four spots in the Round of 8 up for grabs in Charlotte. Taylor Gray is +16 to the cutline in fifth and Sammy Smith is -14 to the cutline in 12th. There is a lot that can happen in the space next week.
