Braves, Reds reveal exclusive racing inspired uniforms for MLB Speedway Classic at Bristol

In less than two weeks, the Atlanta Braves and Cincinnati Reds will play in one of the more unique baseball games in Major League Baseball history. Both teams will participate in the MLB Speedway Classic, played in the infield of Bristol Motor Speedway in Bristol, Tennessee on Aug. 2.
The venue is usually reserved for NASCAR, but it’ll serve as the home of the first regular-season MLB game played in the state of Tennessee. An attendance of over 100,000 people is being expected for the history/making showdown.
A unique game deserves unique uniforms. The Braves and Reds are delivering on that promise. Check out their freshly-revealed threads for Aug. 2 below, as the MLB took to social media to reveal racing-inspired looks for both squads.
As you can see, the MLB noted that Atlanta’s cap features flames on the top of the visor, while Cincinnati’s has checkered racing flags across their visor. Additionally, the jersey numbers reflect the spirit of numbers on racecars. What a sweet get-up.
Those are certain to go quick on when they’re up for sale. The Reds and the Braves are embracing playing at a venue usually reserved for NASCAR, and it’s going to make the MLB Speedway Classic that much more intense when it’s time for the first pitch.

More on the 2025 MLB Speedway Classic
Meanwhile, some of the players are putting their own spin on their uniforms for the MLB Speedway Classic. Reds catcher Tyler Stephenson is referencing Talladega Nights: The Ballad of Ricky Bobby.
Check out Stephenson’s Ricky Bobby-themed gear below, shared to X (formerly known as Twitter) by MLB broadcaster Jim Day. It’s perfect for the event, setting the standard for any racing-themed additions to the game by fellow players.
It doesn’t get much better than that. The Reds-Talladega Nights crossover is one we didn’t know that we needed, but it’s perfect. Now, what will the Braves and their players cook up? Perhaps they can turn towards Days of Thunder for some inspiration, or utilize their connection with former Cup Series champion Chase Elliott, who’s a fan of the franchise.
Regardless of the gear, the event is sure to be a spectacle. The decision-makers at MLB have been trying to find ways to spice up their regular season, and a game at The Last Great Coliseum will certainly help that goal come to fruition.
