Former Packers quarterback signs on to Indianapolis practice squad

Former Green Bay Packers quarterback Brett Hundley signed on to the Indianapolis Colts practice squad on Monday. Hundley has been moved on and off the active squad with the Colts this season, as they deal with an evolving quarterback situation.
The UCLA product was drafted by the Packers in the fifth round of the 2015 NFL Draft. He spent three seasons in Green Bay, taking on a large role in 2017 when Aaron Rodgers broke his collarbone in Week 6.
After starting in nine games in 2017, Hundley was traded to the Seattle Seahawks. He spent one season in Seattle before signing a one-year deal with the Arizona Cardinals.
Hundley signed on with the Colts this summer on a one-year deal. The Colts have tried to keep a handful of quarterbacks around this season after Carson Wentz sat out most of the preseason with an injury.
The former Philadelphia Eagles quarterback has started every game this season, however, minimizing the need to keep Hundley on the active roster. Former Texas star Sam Ehlinger is also on the roster.

Hundley has completed 199 of 337 passes for 1,902 yards with nine touchdowns and 13 interceptions in his seven NFL seasons. He has compiled 46 carries for 309 yards and two touchdowns.
How Ehlinger made a name with the Colts
Ehlinger won admiration from the team in the preseason, when he was starting in the place of Carson Wentz. In his first preseason game in August, Ehlinger led the Colts to a 21-18 comeback win over the Carolina Panthers. Wentz was out before the season even started after suffering a foot injury in training camp. The injury required surgery to repair and was initially believed to sideline him to start the season. As Wentz was making his way back, Ehlinger went down spraining his ACL in the Indianapolis Colts’ final preseason competition. Fortunately, Wentz was able to start the season for the Colts.
With the return of Ehlinger, the Colts still have three options at quarterback including Carson Wentz and Brett Hundley. If for any reason, Wentz is unable to play going forward look for the Colts to hand the offense over to the rookie as they did in the preseason. Just like Eason, Hundley could not beat out Ehlinger in the months leading up to the start of the season. And if the Wentz experiment does not pan out, the Colts could already have their future franchise quarterback in Sam Ehlinger.
