Houston Texans tight end Brevin Jordan was carted off the field during Monday’s practice. According to Aaron Wilson of KPRC 2 Houston, Jordan went down with what appeared to be a lower leg injury.

“He appears to be in serious pain,” Wilson wrote on X. “Lot of noise coming from the field team huddled around him. Practice halted as Brevin Jordan is hurting very badly. Inconsolable. A very, very hard moment for him and the team. Very unfortunate.”

DJ Bien-Aime of ESPN added that Jordan was “crying loudly” after going down with the injury. Jordan, 25, suffered a torn ACL in Week 2 of the 2024 season. He had been having an impressing training camp as he looked to solidify his role as the backup tight end behind Dalton Schultz.

Jordan, the former Miami standout and 2021 fifth-round pick, has appeared in 36 regular season games. He has hauled in 53 receptions for 532 yards and five touchdowns. Houston showed faith in Jordan throughout his recovery, signing him to a one-year, $2.1 million extension this past December. Jordan called the team’s desire to bring him back “unbelievable.”

“I love the city of Houston, I love this coaching staff, I love my teammates,” Jordan said last month, via Sam Warren of the Houston Chronicle. “So, for them to resign me and have faith that I can be somebody that they can rely on to make plays on Sundays, that they can look to their left and to their right and know that I’m gonna do my job, it’s unbelievable… I never take it for granted just being here.”

Head coach DeMeco Ryans said the decision to bring back Jordan was an easy one: “It was important to bring Brevin back on an extension because I see a very talented young player who really loves football and I know he can help us. I see an ascending young player, and when you’ve got an ascending young player in your building, we want to keep as many of those guys here as we can. So, I’m happy to lock Brevin up.”

Jordan will surely undergo testing to determine the severity of his latest injury. Cade Stover and Irv Smith Jr. are the other notable tight ends on the roster.
