It hasn’t taken long for former Miami Dolphins head coach Brian Flores to start receiving calls and interviewing for other head coaching vacancies around the league. On Friday, ESPN’s Adam Schefter reported that Flores completed an interview with the Houston Texans for their head coaching position.

If the Houston Texans can convince Flores to take over the coaching reins of the program, it could be the first step of many (nearly a mile’s worth) to convince disgruntled quarterback DeShaun Watson to remain with the team.

Although the quarterback has been out the entirety of this year dealing with his ongoing legal problems, Watson made it clear that he did not want to play for the Texans anymore. And Houston was attempting to honor the quarterback’s wishes with a move to the Miami Dolphins while Flores was still in charge. Watson, who has a no-trade clause in his contract, was believed to be willing to waive the clause for a trade to Miami. Unfortunately, none of that came to flourishing, and now the two could pair together in Houston if Watson is willing to stay.

Flores interviews with Bears

On Monday, the list of head coaches fired in the NFL had one name on it that had some NFL fans scratching their heads, Brian Flores. The Miami Dolphins elected to part ways with Flores after three seasons; two of which were winning seasons. And the Chicago Bears wasted little time on getting a sit down with the former Dolphins’ head coach.

On Friday, the Bears announced that they interviewed Jeff Ireland for the general manager position and Brian Flores for their head coach opening. Flores has 18 years’ worth of NFL coaching experience and has coached in all three phases of the game, offense, defense, and special teams. And at the beginning of his career, he held a front-office job as a scout. Over that time, Flores has won four Super Bowls, all of them coming while with the New England Patriots.

Flores spent the last three seasons as the head coach in Miami, leaving them with a 24-25 record. In his past two seasons with the Dolphins, he finished just one game out of the playoffs and had winning records; 10-6 in 2020 and 9-8 in 2021. In both those years, he finished off the season strong winning nine of his final 12 in 2020 and eight of nine to finish this year.
