WATCH: Brian Robinson scores first NFL touchdown for Washington Commanders
An incredible comeback story has another chapter authored. Brian Robinson Jr. scored his first career NFL touchdown Thursday night.
After missing the first month of the season due to injuries sustained from being a victim in a car-jacking attempt and shooting, the former Alabama running back made a miraculous comeback to the Washington Commanders’ active roster.
Thursday, he reached the end zone for the first time as a Commander, a one-yard run against the Chicago Bears to give Washington a 12-7 lead in the fourth quarter.

Robinson made his NFL debut last week against the Tennessee Titans, taking nine carries for 22 yards. But ahead of the Commanders’ Thursday Night Football game against the Bears, the team opted to name him its No. 1 running back.
The Commanders drafted Robinson with the No. 98 overall pick in the third round of the 2022 NFL Draft. As a fifth-year senior in 2021, Robinson rushed for 1,343 yards and 14 touchdowns to help Alabama to the national championship game — an eventual 33-18 loss to Georgia. He also got involved in the passing game, catching 35 passes for 296 yards and two touchdowns.
With Robinson is unavailable for Washington, the depth chart at running back for the Commanders has been led by Antonio Gibson, J.D. McKissic and Jonathan Williams. As the former Alabama back continues his recovery, he’ll look to try and stay the top choice.
Brian Robinson: ‘I’m the king of adversity.’
The former Alabama Crimson Tide standout discussed his comeback with media earlier, noting that this isn’t the first time Robinson had to climb an uphill battle in his lifetime.
“I guess I’m the king of adversity,” Robinson said. “I’ve been dealt with so much adversity in my life, I’ve just got to be stronger than what I’m up against. I’ve had my tests, just having to be away from ball, being away from the organization for a little while, to just kind of get myself together. The time was when was needed.”
Through it all, Robinson never wavered. Two weeks after his accident, he was spotted back in the Commanders practice facility and was seen doing drills the following day. Less than a month later and he’s already back on the field and ready to play, something nobody could’ve ever predicted.
