Brock Bowers named NFL Offensive Rookie of the Month

Las Vegas Raiders tight end Brock Bowers won a major award as he was named NFL Offensive Rookie of the Month for November. He becomes the third Raiders player to win Rookie of the Month, joining running back Josh Jacobs in October and November 2019 and Hall of Fame cornerback Charles Woodson in December 1998. Bowers also becomes the first former Georgia Bulldogs tight end to win Rookie of the Month.
November was a strong month for Bowers as he led all rookies in receiving yards (349), receptions (32), receiving yards per game (87.3) and receiving touchdowns (three). Through 12 games this season, Bowers has caught 84 passes for 884 yards and four touchdowns.
At the start of the season, Raiders head coach Antonio Pierce talked about what he likes about Bowers. “I think he’s just growing,” Antonio Pierce said of Bowers, per Raiders.com.”I mean, he really showed up in some critical moments for us. But what I love is the toughness, the physicality that he runs with, his play style down there, caught that ball in the third quarter and dragging the defender for a couple more yards to get us to the one-yard line. You just see that kind of energized our whole team and got him going. I think it’s really huge.”

Brock Bowers became a legend at Georgia
“He’s awesome, man. He’s so good,” Raiders quarterback Gardner Minshew said at the time. “Great feel in zone, can get open in man [coverage]. Had to take a shot to him in third down, he goes and makes a huge play for us. I think he’s going to be really special and we’ve got to continue to develop chemistry there and get him going.”
It’s not a big surprise to see Bowers have early success in the NFL considering what he did at Georgia. In three seasons with the Bulldogs, the 21-year-old won the SEC Freshman of the Year award in 2021, was named to the All-SEC First Team three times, was named a unanimous All-American in 2023 and became the only tight end in history to win the John Mackey Award twice (2022, 2023).
