Brock Purdy injury update: 49ers QB misses practice one day after playing vs. Jaguars

San Francisco 49ers quarterback Brock Purdy missed practice on Monday, one day after playing against the Jacksonville Jaguars. In the first practice report of the 49ers’ Week 5 game against the Los Angeles Rams, Purdy was listed as a non-participant due to toe soreness.
Brock Purdy missed Week 2 and Week 3 this year because of the toe injury. On Monday, 49ers head coach Kyle Shanahan said the toe issue flared up on Purdy on Sunday night.
“He didn’t indicate it to me at all during the game,” Shanahan said, per 49erswebzone.com. “I talked to him on the phone last night, and he said it was starting to bother him a little bit last night. But, nothing during the game at all.”
In Sunday’s game, Purdy completed 22 of his 38 passes for 309 yards, two touchdowns, and two interceptions in the 49ers’ 26-21 loss to the Jaguars. In two games this year, Purdy has completed 65.8 percent of his passes for 586 yards, four touchdowns, and four picks.

How Brock Purdy performed against 49ers
After the game, Shanahan shared his thoughts on Purdy’s performance. “I saw some inconsistency with our whole offense,” he said, per 49erswebzone.com. “Moved the ball, but really killed ourselves on four different turnovers. Two were fumbles and two were picks. One was off a tip, one was just out of reach of Christian [McCaffrey], is what it looked like.
“He was waiting for him to get through there. The guy was grabbing him, so it took a little bit longer than usual. It just sailed on him a bit. I thought the other one got tipped, but made some plays, still had a chance to win it at the end, and it looked like they got through on that last blitz, but he’s just got to protect the ball there.”
Brock Purdy is in his fourth season with the 49ers after the team selected him in the seventh round of the 2022 NFL Draft. He led the team to the NFC Championship game during his rookie season and the Super Bowl in 2023.
