Brock Purdy injury update: Kyle Shanahan casts uncertainty on San Francisco 49ers QB's status for Saints game

The San Francisco 49ers came out of their opening win with multiple injuries of note. That includes QB Brock Purdy, who is now in question for their matchup in New Orleans for Week 2.
Per ESPN’s Adam Schefter, Purdy is dealing with separate injuries coming out of the opener with issues with his left shoulder and a toe. That has put his status as questionable for this weekend’s game against the Saints, with QB Mac Jones possibly getting the start in that one for San Francisco come Sunday.
“Brock Purdy has a left shoulder and toe injury that make him uncertain for Sunday’s game in New Orleans. Kyle Shanahan said the team will see how the practice week goes,” Schefter tweeted out on Monday evening. “If Purdy cannot play, 49ers backup QB Mac Jones would be in line to start.”
“Brock Purdy has a left shoulder and a toe injury that now leave him uncertain for Sunday’s game in New Orleans,” Schefter said in an update he repeated while appearing on ‘Monday Night Countdown’. “If Purdy cannot start for the 49ers, Mac Jones would be in line to start. It sounds like that that will happen. Kyle Shanahan wants to see how the practice week goes for Purdy.”
In the 17-13 win over the Seattle Seahawks for San Francisco to open 1-0 overall and in the NFC West, Purdy did not play his best game. He did complete 74.3% of his throws for 277 yards and two touchdowns, but also threw a pair of interceptions, tied for the third-most in his career so far, in just the second half to keep the Seahawks in it until the 49ers scored with less than two minutes left to get out of Seattle with the four-point victory.
Now, without him, Jones could end up being the 49ers QB1 in New Orleans. Jones, having become a backup in the past year or so, has completed 65.9% of his throws for 203.7 yards per game while posting what’s nearly a one-to-one touchdown-to-turnover ratio over his four-year career with the New Englad Patriots and Jacksonville Jaguars. Him starting could be even further complicated for the 49ers pending some of the other issues they’re dealing with on the injury report.
Purdy has a few days here until San Francisco kicks off their second game also on the road down in New Orleans. Still, he, per Schefter, sounds questionable at best right now with this set of injuries.

George Kittle injury update: Kyle Shanahan reveals how long San Francisco 49ers TE will be out
Just one week into the season, injuries are beginning to pile up for the San Francisco 49ers. George Kittle might wind up being the most long-term of them all. According to ESPN’s Adam Schefter, Kittle is expected to be on the sideline for a few games.
“49ers Pro Bowl TE George Kittle is expected to be sidelined multiple weeks with a hamstring injury,” Schefter said via X.
Kittle left Sunday’s game against the Seattle Seahawks due to his hamstring. He did not get back on the field and will now miss time.
In his little playing time, Kittle still found a way to be productive. Four catches on four targets from Brock Purdy resulted in 25 yards and a touchdown.
