Cleveland Browns linebacker Devin Bush Jr. was found not guilty Tuesday of assaulting his girlfriend during a May incident at his home in Sewickley, Pa. Bush was accused of injuring Shkurte Leka, the mother of the couple’s 3-year-old daughter, after she began filming an argument between them on her iPhone, per Justin Vellucci of TribLive.

The May 4 dispute between the two started over how Bush was transferring mashed potatoes into a container. Leka testified that Bush chased her around the home, pinned her to a massage table and attempted to wrestle her cellphone from her possession. She also said that Bush took her car keys.

Leka suffered cuts and abrasions to her right wrist and a toe. Bush admitted he smashed her cellphone, though he denied getting physical. Allegheny County (Pennsylvania) Common Pleas Judge Bruce Beemer ruled that Bush was not guilty of the assault and harassment charges. Beemer explained that prosecutors failed to prove Bush had intent to harm or injure Leka, according to the TribLive report.

“We are relieved and pleased with the verdict,” said Robert Del Greco Jr., Bush’s attorney. “… I think Devin Bush testified cogently and convincingly regarding his abject lack of intent of harm or injure anyone.”

Bush is currently making $3.25 million on his one-year deal with Cleveland. An unrestricted free agent this offseason, Bush is in line to get nice raise based on his play this season.
