Cleveland Browns rookie running back Quinshon Judkins has been arrested in Fort Lauderdale, FL, according to the Broward County Sheriff. Reports indicate two charges are being made against Judkins — battery and domestic violence. The arrest came on Saturday, with no specific time mentioned.

“Browns rookie RB Quinshon Judkins arrested in Fort Lauderdale, per this from the Broward County Sheriff,” Zac Jackson of The Athletic said via X. “Battery and domestic violence.”

***UPDATE***An update has emerged on Judkins via ESPN’s Adam Schefter. Court records indicate Judkins is still in jail as of Saturday night. A court appearance is already scheduled for Sunday morning.

***UPDATE*** – On Sunday, new details were released about the arrest of Judkins. Officers responded to a delayed battery, and spoke to the victim upon arriving on scene. Their preliminary investigation determined that a battery had occurred, and Judkins was placed into custody.

***UPDATE*** – On Sunday, Quinshon Judkins was released from Broward County Main Jail on a $2,500 bail, per CBS News Miami. The judge reportedly ordered Judkins not to be in contact with the victim and have no access to a firearm.

***UPDATE*** – On Sunday, NFL spokesman Brian McCarthy declined to provide further details on Quinshon Judkins’ arrest. “We are aware of the matter, but will decline further comment,” McCarthy said, per Cleveland.com’s Mary Kay Cabot.

Judkins just wrapped up his collegiate career with the Ohio State Buckeyes, winning a national championship. He was brought into the program to be a one-two punch alongside TreVeyon Henderson. It’s safe to say mission accomplished as they turned into one of college football’s top duos.

Ole Miss is where Judkins began his career, though. He broke onto the scene as a true freshman during the 2022 season with 1,567 yards and 16 touchdowns on 247 attempts. A three-star recruit coming out of high school, head coach Lane Kiffin found a gem he instantly cashed in on.

Two seasons were spent in Oxford before entering the NCAA transfer portal. The rest is history, finding the same amount of success at Ohio State. Judkins did not even have to move too far to get his NFL career started, getting drafted by the Browns.

However, as the case with most second-round selections, Judkins has yet to sign his deal. Only two of the 30 early Day 2 selections have come to an agreement with their respective team. Potentially something else to watch now that Judkins has been arrested.

There was hope Judkins would be able to hit the ground running. Running backs are known to make early impressions, especially if a role is available. Cleveland is looking for any kind of offensive spark and Judkins entered the NFL Draft as one of the more proven backs available.

Instead, there are now some off-the-field issues to deal with. No further information on the arrest has been released. Training camp is not too far away, with the first day scheduled for Thursday, July 25. Preseason games will begin not too long after on Aug. 8. Usually, a stage where rookies can really flash their talent.

Sept. 7 is when the regular season will begin for Cleveland and it’s a big one for the Browns. An AFC North foe, the Cincinnati Bengals, will come to Huntington Bank Field for a Week 1 divisional matchup.
