Bryce Young added to Carolina Panthers injury report with thigh injury

On Thursday, the Carolina Panthers added quarterback Bryce Young to the team’s injury report. Darin Gantt provided more details on the team’s website.
“The rookie was listed as a full participant with a thigh issue, but the fact he was a full participant suggests it’s not a serious situation,” Gantt wrote. “Young practiced fully on Wednesday, also.”
Evidently Young isn’t alone in his injuries. In fact, a slew of Panthers weren’t lucky enough to fully participate at Thursday’s practice like the rookie QB.
“Seven players were listed as limited on Thursday, including Taylor Moton (knee), Austin Corbett (calf), Marquis Haynes Sr. (back), Jaycee Horn (hamstring), Laviska Shenault Jr.(ankle), Ian Thomas (calf), and Xavier Woods (thigh). Moton was held out Wednesday, though those are de facto rest days for the veteran right tackle,” Gantt wrote.
Young has had an extended break since his last game on Nov. 9. In the 16-13 loss to the Chicago Bears, Young completed 21-of-his-38 pass attempts for 185 yards. He did not throw a touchdown or interception in the outing.

In nine games this season, Young has thrown for 1,560 yards, eight touchdowns and seven interceptions on 62.8% passing. Carolina’s offense has been mired in futility, ranking 30th in yards per game (275.6) and 29th in points per game (17.0).
Frank Reich weighs in on the Panthers’ struggles
With the loss to the Bears, the Panthers’ recorded dropped to 1-8. With or without Young, the team will square off against the Dallas Cowboys at 1 p.m. ET on Sunday. Head coach Frank Reich knows the offense must improve — and quickly.
“I would think if you talk to most of the players, they might not admit it, but when you’re going up against a hot team, guys know it’s an opportunity,” Reich said Monday. “Things have not been going well for us as a team. So, it’s an opportunity. It’s a great opportunity to go up and prove that we’re a good football team. You know, we beat one good football team, but we need to beat another good football team. So we’ll all get ready to play a good one this week.
“This team [the Cowboys] is hot. They have a lot of firepower on offense. They have some big-time playmakers on defense. You know, they’re good in all three phases. They’re a well-coached team, and they’ve got a lot of firepower. So, it’s a great challenge for us, and I think our coaching staff and our players are excited for that.”
