Bryce Young injury update: Panthers QB goes down in pain, exits game to locker room vs. Falcons

In the first quarter of the Panthers’ game against the Atlanta Falcons on Sunday, Carolina quarterback Bryce Young suffered an injury and left the game. After being evaluated by the medial team on the field, Young headed back to the locker room.
Young’s injury occurred when he was sacked by Falcons safety Billy Bowman Jr. Before leaving the game, Young completed 8-of-his-9 pass attempts for 82 yards and a touchdown.
This injury isn’t Young’s first this season. He suffered a sprained ankle in the Panthers’ 13-6 win over the New York Jets on Oct. 19. Young only missed one game due to the injury. It’s unclear if it was Young’s ankle that was injured on the play versus the Falcons.
Young ultimately returned to the game, but Andy Dalton would’ve taken over the Panthers’ offense if Young’s injury had been serious. In his lone start this season, Dalton completed 16-of-his-24 pass attempts for 175 yards in a 40-9 blowout loss against the Buffalo Bills. Dalton didn’t record any passing touchdowns in the loss, but did throw an interception.
Bryce Young a subpar showing in the Panthers’ 17-7 loss to the New Orleans Saints last week. In the loss, he completed 17-of-his-25 pass attempts for 124 yards and zero touchdowns, while throwing a pick.

With the loss, the Panthers fell to 5-5 on the season. While Carolina is only .500, the team is having a much improved season after finishing the 2024-25 campaign with a 4-12 record. In October, Bryce Young opened up on the team’s improvement.
“We’re definitely continuing to build and grow in the right direction,” Young said. “Really, one of the biggest things that we’ve noticed is just ownership. Coach has done a great job of laying the foundation for us. And they’ll be the first to tell you they emphasize it, make sure we take ownership in the culture and the plays and in our routines and whatever it is.
“Everyone’s gotten a lot more comfortable embracing that. I’m embracing the culture, embracing the ownership and all the little things, and I think us being able to come into our own, it’s been great. It’s been great to be a part of, and it’s been great to be a leader through it. So you know there’s still work to do. Still so much for us to build off of. There’s still so much for us to grow in, and you know we’re just taking it week by week, but I’m super grateful to be a part of it.”
