Bubba Wallace announces he and wife, Amanda Carter, expecting first child
NASCAR driver Bubba Wallace is about to undergo some massive changes in his life. The longtime NASCAR veteran announced on his Twitter page on Wednesday that he and his wife are expecting their first child in the month of October, the same month as his birthday.
Their Instagram carousel included several photos with a small, visible ultrasound in each. “Spring has sprung,” the couple wrote in their Instagram post. “Summer will be rad. Fall is the first time, we’ll be mom and dad!”
They let everyone know the baby would be due in October, since Wallace joked that the baby is due the same week as his birthday.
Bubba Wallace qualifying standards have gone up
In the 2021 season, Bubba Wallace only made the top-10 in qualifying three times. In 2022 he was able to make it nine times, including a pole. Then in 2023, he was in the top-10 17 times during the season including another pole award.

After qualifying P2 earlier in the month of April, Wallace has earned a top-10 starting position five times in eight races. On short tracks like Richmond and Martinsville, that is almost unheard of. He was also in the top-10 at COTA, a road course, historically his worst race tracks in the Cup Series.
Since his two top-5 finishes to start the season, Wallace and the 23 team have faltered. Just two top-15 finishes in the next five races. He has to start finishing races. Last week he should have been in the top-5, top-10 at worst. A bad pit stop cost him all kinds of track position and he finished P13.
Wallace recently was listed at No. 10 on the NASCAR Power Rankings from On3’s Jonathan Howard.
In 2023, Wallace started the season with a 20th-place finish at the 2023 Daytona 500. He also improved his finishes enough to make the playoffs for the very first time of his career. Although he did improve in overall points, achieving five Top 5 finishes, and ten Top 10 finishes, 2023 was the first time he didn’t win since he got his first win at Talladega in 2021. Wallace was eliminated from the Round of 12 at the end of the Charlotte Royal race.
