Texas just gave us the Big One that Talladega never did. Bubba Wallace hit the wall with Joey Logano in his back bumper. From there, Wallace was spun out in front of the NASCAR field, and chaos ensued.

Bubba Wallace, Joey Logano, Alex Bowman, AJ Allmendinger, Noah Gragson, and Chad Finchum were involved in this wreck. Just a mess right when you least expected it.

This wreck changes a lot. There were fast race cars involved in this one. Texas challenges these drivers. Wallace got into the wall, and Logano was right there behind him early after the restart. A tough position for everyone involved.

Today, passing has been very difficult for the lead. That’s the story of the Next Gen car. Still, it feels like we are going to get an exciting finish to this race today. This massive wreck was mostly caused by the restart and the difficult grip levels this track gives drivers.

Joey Logano was close to Bubba Wallace when the wreck happened. But this wasn’t Logano’s fault. Wallace got too high up on the track, likely due to a poor aero situation, and got into the wall. There wasn’t anything anyone was going to do to avoid this wreck once the 23 bounced back off that wall.

We will likely get more incidents. Maybe not as big as this wreck, but another spin or two is in our future. This track is too sketchy for this race to remain clean the rest of the way.

Bubba Wallace goes to the garage

This race has really been a test of the new Damaged Vehicle Policy. Teams are now allowed to take their cars to the garage for extensive repairs. Previously, you only got seven minutes on pit road, and if you couldn’t meet minimum speed after that, you were out of the race.

Josh Berry wrecked out of the race way earlier. He’s back on track now. Bubba Wallace is going back to the garage right now and is hoping that he can get back on the track again before the checkered flag flies.

Luckily, Wallace picked up stage points in Stage 2. He likely wanted more than he will end up with today, but those stage points are keeping him competitive for a playoff spot this season. He came into today’s race with the second-most stage points in the Cup Series this season.

Today is going to be a rough finish for Bubba Wallace when it is put in the official record books. But he had a fast car once again this week. When the 23 team puts a full race together, it will be hard to keep them out of victory lane.
