At the end of Stage 2 yesterday at Talladega, Joey Logano unleashed a fury of words on the radio after Bubba Wallace got the win. Logano was fuming mad at his NASCAR teammate, Austin Cindric, for costing him the stage win.

Austin Cindric checked up at the end of Stage 2, and it looked like a good move all things considered. I’m sure Joey will take the stage points over being wrecked and out of the race.

To make matters…more awkward – Cindric went on to win the race. Bubba Wallace couldn’t help but chime in after. He gave his full support to Cindric in this teammate dispute.

“Big AC [Austin Cindric] fan in stage 2… don’t listen to the naysayers, you were perfect!” Wallace posted on X/Twitter. He can’t help but get in a little trolling, and I love it.

Being teammates with two NASCAR champions, one three-time champion at that, can’t be easy. Cindric also has the blessing/curse of his dad being a very important leader at Team Penske. So, he has to show up and prove he belongs.

Bubba Wallace managed to finish P8 after the Toyotas were stopped by Ross Chastain. The big one never happened on Sunday, and we got a clean finish for once at a superspeedway. That is about the only solace we can take in the action. That and the first stage, when Toyota decided to push the pace, led to two cautions.

Thankfully, we’re going to Texas, where passing is once again an issue. When will it end?

Bubba Wallace had quiet points day at Talladega

During the race at Talladega, Bubba Wallace was relatively quiet. He wasn’t leading laps and remained a non-factor, perhaps in a good way. He ended up walking out of Talladega with 45 points on the day, third most behind Kyle Larson and Cindric.

Each week even when it feels like a disappointing result, Wallace and his teammate, Tyler Reddick, continue to move up in points. They are sixth and seventh right now, with Reddick ahead by seven points.

When you look at the finishes, there isn’t anything that pops off the page at you. Staying more low-key but consistent has been really beneficial for this team. Charles Denike seems to understand the benefit of stage points more than Bootie Barker did, and it has worked so far.

The only drivers besides his own teammate ahead of him in points right now are Christopher Bell, Chase Elliott, Denny Hamlin, Kyle Larson, and William Byron. When it comes to points, Bubba Wallace is having a career-best performance through the first 10 races.
