Ahead of the 2025 Cook Out Clash at Bowman Gray Stadium, Bubba Wallace is watching film and also trolling his friend Daniel Suárez. Wallace and Suárez go way back and both drivers were in the 2012 NASCAR Hall of Fame 150 at the Madhouse.

It has been more than 50 years since the Cup Series went to Bowman Gray. But the K&N Pro East Series used to race at the track. At least, they did in 2012. So, Bubba Wallace decided to take a look back at history.

While watching the 2012 race, Wallace remembered that his buddy Suárez got into quite a wreck. So, he couldn’t help but share that and troll his amigo a little bit online.

“Race week. Film review,” Wallace posted, sharing a picture of Suárez’s wrecked car.

The Trackhouse Racing driver had a hilarious response.

“I remember that one, I hurt my huevos but didn’t know how to say it in English at the time,” Suárez wrote. Now that’s funny.

It sounds like Daniel Suárez learned a thing or two about wrecking that day. He also learned a thing or two about how tight your belts should be in the car. Yikes.

As far as that 2012 race goes, there were a lot of notable names. That group of K&N drivers was full of future Cup Series talent that are still racing now. Kyle Larson won the pole. Corey LaJoie led the most laps and won the race. Bubba Wallace was runner-up.

The last time the K&N Series raced at Bowman Gray was in 2015. Other winners of the race in the five-year history are Matt DiBenedetto, Ben Kennedy, Ben Rhodes, and Scott Heckert.

Bubba Wallace ready to improve upon 2024 season

During the 2024 season, Bubba Wallace had career-highs in top-five and top-ten finishes. But without a win, he failed to make the playoffs. Meanwhile, his teammate Tyler Reddick won the regular season championship.

So, the expectations are high for 2025. 23XI Racing is in a legal battle with NASCAR which could provide further distractions. There is a lot for Wallace and his team to rise above if they want to be a playoff team this year.

It all begins at Bowman Gray Stadium. An ode to NASCAR’s history and a bit to the history of drivers like Wallace, Larson, Suárez, Elliott, and more.

Bubba Wallace has had some intense moments in the last few years of the Clash. Coming back to a quarter-mile track like the LA Coliseum, will he find himself in another physical moment late in the race?
