The Buccaneers have conducted an interview with Giants quarterbacks coach Shea Tierney for their open offensive coordinator job. Tierney has previously worked as an analyst for NC State and Alabama at the collegiate level, as well as with the Philadelphia Eagles and Buffalo Bills at the professional level.

Last season, Tierney was hired as the quarterbacks coach for the New York Giants as first-year head coach Brian Daboll built a new staff. The pair had worked together first at Alabama under coach Nick Saban, and found great success on the field for the Giants this season — leading to a chance at a promotion to offensive coordinator with Tampa Bay.

Tierney began coaching at NC State, spending two seasons with the Wolfpack as a graduate assistant. He then worked as an analyst for the Eagles for three seasons before returning to college football and Alabama. While at Alabama, Tierney was part of an overall 27-2 record and a national championship-winning season. From there, Tierney and Daboll accepted new positions with the Bills.

Having conducted their interview with Tierney, the Buccaneers have now met with six candidates for their vacant offensive coordinator position. Byron Leftwich left the position vacant as he parted ways with the franchise after four seasons due to offensive struggles in 2022.

Also on the Buccaneers list of candidates — Georgia offensive coordinator and quarterbacks coach Todd Monken, Denver Broncos passing game coordinator and quarterbacks coach Klint Kubiak, Minnesota Vikings receivers coach Keenan McCardell, Jacksonville Jaguars quarterbacks coach Jim Bob Cooter and Cincinnati Bengals quarterbacks coach Dan Pitcher.

Tierney’s work on the Giants helped develop Daniel Jones with the best season of his four-year career so far. Jones finished the season with a QBR of 60.8, a passer rating of 92.5 and a league-best interception rate at 1.1 percent.
