Caitlin Clark injury update: Stephanie White reveals concerning news on Indiana Fever star

Caitlin Clark is still without a timetable to return from a groin injury, according to Indiana Fever coach Stephanie White. Clark has missed the past seven games and, with this news, is expected to miss a eighth in a row when the Fever play the Los Angeles Sparks on Tuesday night.
“We’ve had updates (from the training staff), and her recovery is going well,” White said according to the Indianapolis Star. “You know for us, it’s staying the course and making sure that we’re really diligent about each step that we take, and that we don’t have setbacks, and that we’re patient with it.
“I know she wants to be out here on the floor, and we want her out here on the floor, but making sure that she’s ready is the most important thing. I still don’t know how far we are. We’re going to take it one step at a time, one day at a time, and go from there.”
Clark suffered the groin injury during the final minute of the Fever’s 85-77 victory over the Connecticut Sun. She also missed two weeks in June because of a groin injury on her left side.
Prior to this season, Caitlin Clark had never missed a game in her college or pro career. However, she has now been sidelined for more games (16) than she’s played (13) this year.
“It’s honestly been hard, I’m not gonna lie to you,” Clark told reporters earlier this month. “It’s difficult going to prepare for games, but knowing you’re not going to be playing in them. It’s challenged me mentally.
“It’s really hard to stop and go, stop and go, stop and go, especially when you’re not feeling your best. Just trying to get my body as healthy as I can be and remain confident in myself.”

Stephanie White on Caitlin Clark injury, Fever surge: ‘We don’t like it but sometimes it’s a blessing in disguise’
Speaking about Clark’s inury after a win against the Seattle Storm on Sunday, Fever coach Stephanie White said it could be a “blessing in disguise” for the other players on the roster. The Fever are in the midst of five-game winning streak despite the fact that Clark has not played in any of the past seven games.
“I think it says a lot about this group,” she said. “You know we’ve got a deep team. …I think I said it early when C[lark] was out the very first time, while we don’t like it, sometimes it can be a blessing in disguise, because everybody else finds themselves. And no one is afraid to make the big play, offensively or defensively.
“We’ve got a really good group, that’s unselfish. That want to win. That play well together and for each other and when one person doesn’t have it, somebody else does. And I think it makes us really, really difficult to scout when that happens.”
The Fever continue to climb the standings, sitting in fifth place currently and only 1.5 games out of second. That should give them a shot to finish with one of the top seeds in the playoffs once Clark finally does make her return.
