Before Taylor Swift made her debut appearance on New Heights Wednesday, Caitlin Clark wondered if YouTube would crash. That happened toward the end of the premiere, and the Indiana Fever star shouted out her fellow Swifties for “breaking the internet.”

Swift’s highly anticipated podcast debut, alongside her boyfriend Travis Kelce and his brother Jason, came as she announced her new album. The episode was expected to draw a big audience, and more than 1.3 million people tuned in at the time the video stream ended.

Prior to the episode, Clark asked if YouTube would be able to hold up. After it crashed, she credited the Swifties for being “so powerful we broke the internet.”

Clark, of course, doesn’t hide her Taylor Swift fandom. She did the pop star’s famous heart gesture toward her family during her decorated college career at Iowa before becoming the No. 1 overall pick in the WNBA Draft and has posted on social media from concerts. Clark was in attendance when Swift played at Lucas Oil Stadium during her Eras Tour.

Swift had just unveiled her new album during the “New News” segment of the show. She was discussing the story behind it and how she wrote it during the Eras Tour last year when the stream stopped.

It turns out, the podcast wasn’t over. There was a “glitch,” and the New Heights social media team joked fans literally “broke the internet” – meaning Caitlin Clark’s prediction came true. It’s unclear when exactly the show will post in full on YouTube with the rest of the episode, but the full podcast is available on Spotify.

Swift’s long-awaited appearance on New Heights marked her podcast debut as she joined her boyfriend, Travis Kelce, to announce her next album. The Life of a Showgirl will release Oct. 3, and Swift also unveiled the tracklist.

The four-time Album of the Year winner also shared more details about how she and Kelce wound up meeting after the two failed to connect at a concert. Kelce famously attended a show at Arrowhead Stadium and said he brought a friendship bracelet with his phone number on it, but didn’t get the chance to meet Swift.

As it turns out, she still has not seen the original bracelet. But she certainly saw the video when Kelce took to his podcast to share how much he wanted to meet Swift that night and the “man-tantrum” that ensued.
