Carolina Panthers veteran cornerback A.J. Bouye left the field with a foot injury during the first half of the game versus Atlanta. The Panthers announced the ninth-year player is questionable to return due to the injury.

A.J. Bouye is in his first year with the Panthers after spending one season in Denver. On the season, he has 22 solo tackles and a forced fumble.

Bouye’s injury is just some of the bad news for Carolina on Sunday. Matt Rhule benched Cam Newton as well in the first half against the Atlanta Falcons.

“Cam Newton has been benched for P.J. Walker,” tweeted The Athletic’s Jeff Howe. “The Panthers trail the Falcons, 17-7, and Newton is 6 of 11 for 88 yards and a pick-6. He also has 33 rushing yards and a TD.”

While Newton gave the Panthers a jolt, an inexcusable pick-six landed him on the sidelines.

Panthers inactives versus Falcons

Offensive guards John Miller and Michael Jordan are both inactive for the Panthers on Sunday against the Falcons. Miller has been dealing with an ankle injury for a few weeks. He returned in Week 11, but re-aggravated the injury and missed Week 12. The Panthers were on a bye last week, but Miller still isn’t ready to return. Jordan has also been dealing with a hamstring injury. Neither Miller nor Jordan participated in practice this week.

Outside of Miller and Jordan, there were no injuries on the Panthers’ final injury report entering the weekend. Defensive tackle DaQuan Jones did not practice on Wednesday or Thursday, but he was out with a non-injury-related issue. Jones returned fully to practice on Friday. Cornerback Rashaan Melvin also appeared on the injury report on Friday with an issue that is not injury-related. Both Jones and Melvin entered the weekend without injury designations.
