The Carolina Panthers unveiled their 2022 schedule on Thursday night, and the team has also made a couple of roster moves. Ahead of rookie minicamp, the Panthers have made a pair of cuts, getting down to the 90-man roster limit.

According to a release from the team, the Panthers have released former Boston College offensive tackle Aaron Monteiro and former Rhode Island wide receiver Aaron Parker.

Montero first joined the Panthers in December of 2019, when he was signed to a Reserve/Future contract. He then bounced back and forth on Carolina’s practice squad. The Panthers added Parker to the practice squad in September of 2021, shortly after he was waived by the Dallas Cowboys. Parker played in one game in Carolina in 2021, playing six snaps on special teams.

The moves come after a few additions to the roster in the 2022 NFL Draft for the Panthers. Carolina made six picks on draft night, beginning with former NC State offensive lineman Ikem Ekwonu. Carolina did not pick again until the third round, taking Ole Miss quarterback Matt Corral. In the fourth round, the Panthers took Penn State linebacker Brandon Smith. Carolina held three picks in the final two rounds, taking Virginia Tech EDGE Amare Barno and Tennessee guard Cade Mays in the sixth and Baylor cornerback Kalon Barnes in the seventh.

In addition to their additions through the NFL Draft, the Panthers also added 13 undrafted free agents following draft weekend. With a lot of additions, two cuts were needed to get the Panthers down to the roster limit ahead of minicamp, which is set to take place over the weekend.

The Panthers began last season 3-0, but they quickly fell off with a four-game skid. Carolina ultimately lost its final seven games of the season, ending the year 5-12. The Panthers will open the season with a home date with the Cleveland Browns in Week 1 before hitting the road to face the New York Giants in Week 2. They then return home for a three-game homestand, hosting the Saints, Cardinals and 49ers.
