Joe Brady is one of the hottest coaching candidates on the market. Last off-season, NFL teams came calling to interview him. Following the news of Ed Orgeron’s departure, it’s now being speculated that he’s a candidate to replace him former boss.

Today, Brady answered questions about the speculation linking him to a return to Baton Rouge. Quickly, Brady doused out any fire regarding him taking job at LSU anytime soon.

“After seasons I think about those things. Right now I gotta do a better job at being offensive coordinator of the Carolina Panthers,” stated Brady.

Brady was the mastermind behind LSU’s offense during their undefeated national championship run. In the past, Orgeron and quarterback Joe Burrow have sung his praises.

While the Carolina Panthers have struggled on offense at times during his tenure, they’ve also been snakebitten by injuries. Since Brady took the job under Matt Rhule, star running back Christian McCaffrey has been on the field for less than six games.

Joe Brady: The next Sean McVay?

With the success of Sean McVay in Los Angeles and Kyle Shanahan in San Francisco, every team is looking for the next great offensive play-caller. Recently, Kliff Kingsbury in Arizona and Zac Taylor in Cincinnati have made their names known as well.

Many higher-ups in league circles believe Brady could be the next in-line. However, there’s risk involved for both NFL teams and LSU — Brady’s never been a head coach.

The inexperience didn’t hurt McVay, but we’ve seen other young, hot-shot head coaches flame out before. In the past, Lane Kiffin with the Oakland Raiders and Josh McDaniels with the Denver Broncos have been reasons why teams were hesitant.

Whether in the NFL or at LSU, Joe Brady is going to get a head coaching opportunity one day. He may not want to talk about it until after the season ends, but decision-makers would be foolish not to circle his name.
