After missing the last four games with a high-ankle sprain, Dallas Cowboys star receiver CeeDee Lamb could be back in action this weekend. At the very least, he’s back in practice now.

Jon Machota of The Athletic reported Wednesday that Lamb was limited in Wednesday’s practice. However, “as long as he doesn’t suffer a setback the expectation is that he’ll play Sunday,” the veteran reporter wrote.

Dallas has been targeting the Week 7 game against divisional foe Washington for some time now. But whether CeeDee Lamb’s ankle would respond in time remained to be seen.

That he’s practicing on Wednesday is certainly a good sign. It’s further confirmation the timeline is holding.

“They are really beat up, but Lamb and others could be back, I’m told, next week,” ESPN insider Jeremy Fowler said prior to last weekend’s game at Carolina. “That is sort of the loose plan, depending on how practice goes, leaving the window open for them. So they’re going to be out Lamb (this week). He’s looking at this two-three week window where he’s been trying to return.”

Dallas’ offense could use the boost from CeeDee Lamb, but the team has been fairly productive even without him in the lineup. Quarterback Dak Prescott has been among the NFL’s most productive passers this season, leading the league with 13 touchdowns to just three interceptions while also ranking second with 1,617 passing yards and 79.2 quarterback rating through six games.

Meanwhile, George Pickens has really emerged as a capable go-to target for the Cowboys with CeeDee Lamb out. Pickens, who arrived this offseason by way of Pittsburgh, leads the team with 32 catches for 525 yards and six touchdowns.

He has had a touchdown in each of the last five games for the team, while he has gone over 100 yards receiving in two of the last three games.
