CeeDee Lamb injury update: Cowboys WR exits game after brutal fall vs. Lions

Down 18 in the second half, the Dallas Cowboys will spend most of the second half attempting to push the ball downfield. A nice drive was coming together after the Lions got a touchdown of their own due to a Dak Prescott interception, hoping to respond. But it did come at a cost, with wide receiver CeeDee Lamb leaving the game.

Prescott threw up a jump ball for Lamb in one-on-one coverage, eventually falling incomplete. Lamb himself took a pretty big fall and did not have the chance to brace himself. He stayed down on the Ford Field turf for quite some time, seemingly due to hitting his head.

At first, Lamb just looked frustrated with himself for not making the play. Unfortunately, there is something more to this, as he needed some assistance getting to the sideline. You can check out the full play here.

A few plays later, the Cowboys did punch the ball into the end zone for a touchdown via a Javontae Williams rush. Brandon Aubrey’s extra point puts the score at 27-16 in favor of the Lions, setting up for an entertaining end.

The Amazon Prime cameras did catch Lamb walking back to the locker room just before going to a commercial break, though. A Cowboys staffer was walking back with the star wide receiver.

Update: CeeDee Lamb ruled out for rest of game vs. Lions

Coming back from the break, Amazon provided an update on Lamb. It’s not one Cowboys fans are going to want to hear — Lamb is out for the remainder of the game due to a concussion.

“After a very quick, three-minute evaluation of CeeDee Lamb in the tent and an even quicker review of this tape where you see him hit his head on the turf, CeeDee Lamb has been ruled out of this game with a concussion,” Hartung said. “As trainers took him back to the locker room, I could hear him telling them he didn’t need their assistance. And as you can imagine, he was not pleased he will no longer be available for this game.”

Lamb is currently the leading receiver for Dallas, catching six passes for 121 yards. Short-term, George Pickens is going to have to step up as the team’s No. 1 guy. His role will be critical if the Cowboys want any kind of chance of pulling off a comeback victory vs. Detroit.
