CeeDee Lamb reacts to Micah Parsons, Jerry Jones Cowboys contract 'craziness'

Since entering the NFL via the 2021 Draft out of Penn State, Dallas Cowboys defensive end Micah Parsons has evolved into one of the best defensive players in the league. Over his four years with the Cowboys, Parsons has been named a two-time First Team All-Pro, a one-time Second Team All-Pro and a four-time Pro Bowler. However, he heads into the 2025 season on the final year of his rookie contract.
Standout defensive players around the league, such as New York Jets cornerback Sauce Gardner and Pittsburgh Steelers defensive end T.J. Watt, have received lucrative contracts in recent days. However, Parsons remains unsigned and would be an unrestricted free agent following this upcoming season if action isn’t taken.
Teammate CeeDee Lamb touched on Parsons’ contract situation on Wednesday at Cowboys training camp.
“Obviously playing this media game with Jerry [Jones] is not the best,” Lamb said via The Athletic‘s Jon Machota. “It’s not fun. It’s not recommended. (Micah) knows what he brings to the table. He should get what he deserves. I’m not indulging in any of the craziness that they got going, but I do want Micah to get paid, soon.”
The last defensive player that the Cowboys extended was defensive tackle Osa Odighizuwa back in May (four years, $80M). With T.J. Watt now earning $41M a season, PFT’s Mike Florio projects that Parsons could receive an extension for up to $45M a season (if not more).

“I’ve been pretty consistent,” Parsons said via Machota on Tuesday. “If they don’t want me here, they don’t want me here. I’ll go about my business, I understand the nature of the business. Like I said, as long as I’m here and under contract, I’m going to do what I have to do to perform at the highest level. But if this is the end, this is the end.
“Same way the Joneses — Jerry Jones and Stephen Jones — take care of their family. It’s the same way I need to take care of my family. I got my own three kids of my own, so I need to take care of my own family at the end of the day.”
In four season with the Cowboys, Parsons boasts 256 career tackles, 63 TFL and 52.5 sacks.
Dallas opens the 2025 NFL season against the Philadelphia Eagles on Sep. 4. The game will kick at 8:20 p.m. ET on NBC and Peacock.
