Chase Briscoe details relationship with Phoenix Raceway ahead of NASCAR championship round

If Chase Briscoe is going to win the 2025 NASCAR Cup Series championship, he’s going to have to put together a fine performance next month at Phoenix Raceway. But not too long ago, Phoenix was admittedly one of his “least favorite tracks to go to.”
It’s amazing, however, how winning cures all. Briscoe won there in 2022, his first Cup win. Since then, he’s grown to like the track much more.
“Phoenix is a weird one for me,” Briscoe said on Tuesday’s Dale Jr. Download. “It was always one of my three worst tracks and one of my least favorite tracks to go to. In 2022, or whatever it was, I went there and won the Cup race and got my first Cup win there. Kind of from that moment on I started to like it, obviously, and felt like I got a lot better around there.
“I put a lot of work in there because I was so bad there that it kind of forced me to really look at myself in the mirror and try figure out what I can be doing better here. I don’t know, some of it I think helped that we used to be able to run up by the wall in [Turns] 1 and 2 there. That’s kind of went away a little bit. But certainly, when the track started to widen out is when I got better there.”

Chase Briscoe feels ‘really good about’ Phoenix
Briscoe is locked into the Championship 4 by way of his victory in this past Sunday’s Round of 8 playoff race at Talladega Superspeedway. He’s been as consistent as any driver this season, and it’s likely he’ll need a fourth win this season to become a champion.
Obviously, he hopes that comes at Phoenix. Briscoe is confident in his chances of getting to Victory Lane.
“I feel really good about it,” Briscoe said. “The JGR cars in general are gonna be really good at Phoenix. I know [crew chief] James [Small] is super excited that we’re going there. Yeah, I feel really good about it. Just where were at as a race team right now, there’s really not been a single type of racetrack we’ve been to that we’ve not been fast. I know that we’re gonna be fast again when we go there next week, it’s just a matter of executing and putting it all together.”
