Chase Briscoe, Kyle Busch hit with pit road penalties during NASCAR Playoff race at Talladega

An unforced error for Chase Briscoe on the first green flag pit stops of the day. The 19 was hit with a speeding penalty. When it comes to the NASCAR Playoffs, this could be a catastrophic penalty for Briscoe.
Along with Chase Briscoe, Kyle Busch was hit with a speeding penalty on the first set of stops. Ross Chastain also grabbed himself a penalty for speeding. NASCAR is keeping a close eye on everybody today.
Briscoe and Busch have served their penalties. The stage is about to end, so it might not be all bad news. Getting back on the lead lap is what will be most important. If either driver goes multiple laps down before the end of the stage, it could be a day-ender.
These are the kind of penalties that drivers can overcome quickly at Talladega. You wait for the stage break, take the free pass or Lucky Dog, get back on the lead lap and then wait for the next caution. Or, you get lucky, don’t go a lap down, and you’re just right back in the pack when the next stage begins.
The best time to have this penalty is in Stage 1. This will not cut it when it comes to the money stops at the end of the race. Speeding will end your race. For both Chase Briscoe and Kyle Busch, the stakes are simply too high to make the same mistake again today.

Chase Briscoe, Kyle Busch fighting for a win at Dega
For Chase Briscoe, a win means he moves on to Phoenix and his first-ever Championship 4. For Kyle Busch, a win today breaks his 90-race winless streak. Either of them is going to do whatever they have to do to win today. The only problem is, the rest of the field will, too.
We have seen thse Talladega races end under green flag, end while wrecking, and end under caution. There could be multiple overtimes. Whatever happens, these drivers have to survive whatever is thrown their way.
So far, the penalty hasn’t been a major deal. Both Chase Briscoe and Kyle Busch have bounced back from the ordeal and are running very well with the lead pack. Could the 19 or the 8 car flip the script from penalty to victory?
